                                             REPORT ON THE MISSION OF DO DANG GIU TO VIETNAM IN 2006

 

This mission , from Oct.17 to Nov.8, has two purposes :

- to sign a cooperative agreement between AideV and the Science and Technique Club of Hochimih City ( OVS Club );

- to help Prof.  F. Sakata, dean of the Faculty of Sciences of Ibaraki University, to get in touch with Vietnamese universities and reasearch laboratories in view of creating a cooperative program, at his own request.

SIGNATURE OF THE COOERATIVE AGREEMENT WITH THE OVS-CLUB.

The signing ceremony has been organizes in a solemn manner by Dr. Tan Ha Anh, president of the Provisional Executive Bureau, at the office of the Club, in the afternoon of Oct.19 , with the presence of about 15 persons among whom one notices Mr. Nguyen Chon Trung, president of the Committee of Vietnamese living abroad and some journalists. The latter have done well their job as can be seen from the appearance of reports on the ceremony the next day on the internet. The question of the cooperation on improving the teaching of technical matters has been raised and  discussed at length.

THE COOPERATIVE PROGRAM OF PROF. SAKATA

Do Dang Giu has introduced Prof. Sakata to visit five institutions in Viet Nam : the universities of Can Tho, Da Lat and Ha Noi, the Nuclear Reactor Center at Da Lat and the Agency for Radiation and Control of Nuclear safety in Ha Noi. Prof. Sakata has given two seminars, one at Can Tho and the other at the Department of Physics of HaNoi University. During all these visits, he expressed his own vision of research in physics ( in particular nuclear physics which is his own reasearch domain ) and  proposed to organized a research cooperation involving three countries : Japan, China and Viet Nam. Aside from the university of Can Tho, the other four institutions have agreed to join in this program. The next step will be up to Prof. Sakata to set up the proposal and apply for fundings.
