Title: Nuclear physics and method of microanalysis of elements

Lecturer :Doan thu Phong

Objective : Use of portable radioactive sources for themicroanalysis of elements ( small budget ); use of simple detectors at normal temperature . Perspective : creation of a microanalysis center.

1.  - Reminders of some notions of nuclear physics necessary for the microanalysis
    - nuclear reactions
    -   Elactic sacattering, Rutherford scattering
    - beta+ and beta- decay

    - radioactivity alpha

2. - Interaction radiation-matter

    - energy loss
    - reminder of X-ray emission mechanism
    - X-ray in radioactive decay

3. - Radioactive sources

    - of neutrons, alpha, X and gamma rays
    - Use of portable radioactive sources for the microanalysis of elements

4. - Back scattering

    - analysis by the method of back scattering

5. - Activation method . Radiative capture ( proton, gamma ), ( neutron, gamma )

6. - XRF ( X ray fluorescence )

    - method Pixe ( particle induced X-ray emission )
